Overview

 
 

The School of Law offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes in law as per the guidelines of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. The BBALLB (Honours) programme has been designed with an orientation towards Management and Corporate Governance. It offers a versatile approach that caters to the needs of the law practise, corporate sector, law firms and in-house legal counsels in companies. It enables students to specialize in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, securities, investment law, and international taxation, preparing them for professional practice and advanced education abroad premised on community engagement.  The program's unique feature is its emphasis on courses in Accounting and Management during the initial two years, setting it apart from the BA LLB (Honours) program. Apart from the core theory and practical courses, the programme offers opportunity for specialisation in any of the following-

SLCU offers an array of electives from the above specialisations. Additionally the presence of over 25 committees in various subjects grant students the autonomy towards self-directed learning from stalwarts and field practitioners. The teaching learning processes bear learner centered andragogy. It nurtures students interests and enhances their skills of critical thinking, reading and writing in law. With special attention to the art of drafting,

vetting and negotiation of contracts, client counselling and articulation skills, supervised research, we ensure future ready students. The curriculum is richly interspersed with experiences of village visits for legal aid camps, Lok Adalat, internships, and prison visits. In order to promote interaction between students and legal professionals, seminars, guest lectures and workshops are conducted on various subjects of law at regular intervals. The  programme provides a strong foundation for diverse career opportunities in legal practice, judiciary, academia & policy, making it an ideal choice for those interested in a multifaceted legal profession. 
The School of Law has well-equipped library. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The students have access to three different library facilities, namely the general library, the specialised law library and the online library. It boasts of a collection of 27,500 books and 583 journals and magazines. The specialised law library has over 40,000 books and 13,000 Law reports. It has subscribed to over 40 journals and 25 electronic resources such as Westlaw, Heinonline, JSTOR, EBSCO, Oxford Scholarship online, Elgar Online, SCC online and Proquest research library.

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

  • produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or   
  • have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

  • Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or   
  • One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
   5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before August 30th of the admission year.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
 
Candidates are required to apply online only through the University website www.christuniversity.in No other means/mode of application will be accepted.
 
Candidates should thoroughly go through the programme eligibility criteria, etc. before applying.
 
All applicants are required to create a one-time registration ID to be able to apply for the programme of their choice. They can create the Login ID by

Step-1 Procedure to Register as a New applicant
  1. One-time registration: This registration allows you to apply for multiple programs using the same Registration ID.
  2. Fill in your details: Enter your name as per your class 10 school certificate, a valid email ID, mobile number, WhatsApp number for further communication, date of birth, and create a password. Reconfirm the password. Ensure all data is correct before submission, as you cannot edit this personal information later. Click on the ‘Register’ button to complete the registration.
  3. Verify with OTP: An OTP will be sent to your mobile number and email ID. Enter the OTP in the given section and click on the ‘Proceed’ button. If you do not find the email in your inbox, check the spam folder.
 
Step-2 Procedure to Login
  1. Login with your credentials: Use your registered email ID and password to log in. Enter them correctly in the respective fields.
  2. Click on the Login button: After entering your details, click on the ‘Login’ button.
  3. Forgot password?: If you forgot your password, click on the ‘Forgot Password’ button and follow the necessary steps to reset it.
 
Step-3 Steps you need to follow to fill out your personal information in the application form:
  1. Select the program: Choose the program and campus to which you want to apply. If there is an option to choose preferences, kindly choose the preference accordingly. All candidates must meet the program specific eligibility criteria. (Eligibility criteria for the program is available on the admissions page on the University website). Ensure all data is correct before proceeding to next step, as you cannot edit this information later.
  2. Photograph: Upload a photo (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms formal dress with white background only not more than 100 kb). Photos with other backgrounds or taken with mobile devices will result in rejection of the application.
  3. Read the terms and conditions: Carefully read the terms and conditions and select the declaration box below.
  4. Personal information: Fill in your personal information, sports achievements (if any), and extracurricular details (if any).
  5. Parent/guardian information: Provide your current and permanent addresses, along with your parent and guardian information.
  6. Educational details: Fill in your educational details and upload clear scanned copies of class 10 and class 11 final report or class 12 Board result. *Applications with no marks cards or unclear scanned copies will be rejected and termed as Not Eligible.
  7. Preview your application: Review the details you have entered. If there are any corrections needed, edit and preview the application form again. Once submitted, the details cannot be corrected, so ensure everything is accurate before submitting.
  8. Select the date and centre for the selection process: Refer to the Important Dates section before filling out the application. Choose the appropriate date and centre for the selection process based on the program you are applying for. No requests for date/venue changes will be entertained.
  9. The application cannot be submitted without filling in all the mandatory fields.
  10. Applicants must save the information as they proceed from page to page.
 
Step-4 Application Fee Payment:
  1. Payment Methods: You can use Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card or any UPI for the payment.
  2. Non-Refundable: Applicants must remember that the application registration fee is non-refundable once the application number is generated.
  3. Secure Payment: Make sure you’re on a secure website when entering your payment information.
  4. Application Number: A 9-digit application number will be auto-generated after the successful payment of the application fee.
  5. Payment Failure: In case of payment failure due to a technical error, the application number will not be generated, and any amount deducted will be automatically refunded within 15 business days.
  6. Printing the Application: A copy of the application can be printed anytime from the login until the selection process is completed.
 
Applicants must note:
  1. Documents: Original marks cards of class 10 and class 11 final report or class 12 Board result and valid ID proof will be verified during the selection process. Applicants writting their class 12 exam must carry class 11 final report (Mandatory).

Results and Admission Process
  1. Results Announcement: The selection process results will be available on the date mentioned in the Important Dates section on the university’s website.
  2. Results Access: Results can be accessed at this link: https://espro.christuniversity.in/Application/
  3. E-Offer of Admission: Selected candidates will receive an E-Offer of admission, which will be valid until the date specified in the offer.
  4. Provisional Admission: Admission is provisional and subject to university rules. Candidates must meet the specific eligibility criteria for their program.
  5. Fee Payment: Selected candidates must pay the fees using Net Banking/Online Banking or Credit Card. They should also download the offer of admission and choose a date and time to complete the admission process in person with a parent at the selected campus.
To process admission:
  1. Select Date and Time: Choose your preferred date and time from the available options.
  2. Campus Admission: Admission must be processed at the campus where the offer of admission is made

  3. University ID Card:
    • The ID card is a smart card that functions as an ID, ATM card, and access card for various facilities.
    • All transactions within the campus, including fee payments, will be processed through this card.
  4. International Students:
    • Must register with the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer (FRRO/FRO) within 14 working days of admission or arrival in Bengaluru.
  5. Commencement of Academic Year:
    • The start date for the academic year 2025 will be communicated during the admission process.
  6. Caution:
    • The university does not authorize any third party to conduct the selection process or offer admissions.
    • Be wary of unauthorized SMS/Emails promising admissions.
  7. Bank Loan Assistance:
    • Admitted students can request a recommendation letter for a bank loan by presenting the original fee paid receipt to the Office of Admissions.
  8. Laptop:
    • Admitted students may need to purchase a laptop if required by their department.

 

  1. Final Decision:
    • Student allotment in the program of their choice among the various campuses located in Bangalore (Central, Kengeri, Bannerghatta, and Yeshwantpur), Lavasa (Pune), and Delhi NCR Campus of CHRIST University shall be at the sole discretion of the Management. The decision of the Admission Committee is final.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION  – SELECTION PROCESS 2025
APRIL AND MAY ENTRANCE TEST TIMINGS (IST)-2024 : 09:00 AM  | 12:00 PM  |  03:30 PM
1. If the entrance test for the 2 or more applications is on the same date and at the same time, you will write one test and the test score will be transferred to the other applications.
2. If the tests are on the same date but at different times or on different dates, the test has to be taken for each application separately.
3. All other processes (SA_MP_PI) will have to be done separately for each application number.
4. Admit Card of all the selection processess will be updated Two or Three Days before the slection process dates
 
Once the results are announced Selected Candidates should pay their fee and process the admissions within 5 to 7 working days.

  • Basic eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream with minimum of 45% (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India.
  • Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2025 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

  • Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
  • Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels grade not less than C.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
 
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for five years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
 
1. NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. In subsequent years Other Indian States fee will be applicable.
(The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).
 
2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who;
    2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    2.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
 
3. To claim the Indian category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).
 
4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.
 
5. All Candidates If “Selected” after appearing for the final selection process, the fee may be paid through the following option:
  • Payment can be made through Net banking / NEFT / RTGS
  • Payment / Transfer of fees does not guarantee admission.

1.    Contribute to legal scholarship by critical appraisal of laws, legal theories and concepts including its application interdisciplinary issues.
2.    Effectively articulate legal opinions, to vet and draft legal texts and present arguments appropriate to the context in diverse work environments.
3.    Employ critical thinking and logical legal reasoning to develop sound arguments and develop effective suggestions.
4.    To identify, predict, mitigate challenges and engage in effective dispute resolution focusing on the individual, institution and societal problems.
5.    Take initiatives towards social transformation through socio-legal engagement.
6.    Exhibit ethical and professional behaviour in a team, demonstrating leadership and collaboration.

Analyse legal problems and suggest concrete measures in compliance with law of the land.

Academic Performance

Scanned copies of the class 10, class 11/12 marks card should be uploaded while filling the application.

* If class 12 marks are not available at the time of applying, then marks of any test conducted during class 11 can be uploaded.

The office of admissions will verify the scorecards.

*Applications with no scorecards or not clear scanned copies will be rejected and termed as Not Eligible

E-Admit card will be generated as per the important dates mentioned in the website

 

 

Important Instructions

  • Read all Important Links (Eligibility, Documents requirements etc) thoroughly.
  • The date and time for the selection process are auto-generated by the system. Therefore, any request for changes will not be entertained.
  • A Google calendar invite will be sent to your registered email id, ONE day before the MP/PI selection process.
  • Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date and time will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • Candidates must show the original Government recognized photo identity card (Aadhar card/Passport/Voter ID/Recent College ID card) for attending the online selection process. Failing which the application will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • All original Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Card (Students pursuing their final year must have the statement of marks up to the previous semester/year) should be available for verification during the personal interview round.
  • It is recommended to login atleast 15mts before the scheduled time to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
  • Impersonation or any suspicious behaviour (prompting by a third person or accessing notes/gadgets) will be treated as malpractice and the application will be termed as “Not Selected”.
  • The responsibility of satisfying the eligibility criteria for admission rests with the student/candidate. The issue of the E-Admit Card for the selection process does not imply that the eligibility criteria are satisfied.
